Allagash Wilderness Waterway

Canoeing is back! And to celebrate we are offering a three day, two night trip on the remote Allagash Wilderness Waterway. One of Maine’s truly last wild places will be our destination. Canoes will be our mode of transportation for both people and gear. Kids will learn the basic skills associated with traveling with gear in boats, setting up tents, and cooking over a fire. Top that all off with star filled nights around a campfire eating s’mores and telling stories. This three day trip will start at Michaud Farms, and conclude at the Allagash Boat Landing, with stops at the Allagash Falls and Twin Brook Campsite.  June 26 through the 28th. Hot Tuna Live in Camden

Hot Tuna  will make its first-ever appearance at the Camden Opera House for one night only on Wednesday, February 22, at 7:30 p.m., joined by mandolin player Barry Mitterhoff.

Hot Tuna was created by guitarist Jorma Kaukonen and bassist Jack Casady, as a spinoff of Jefferson Airplane. The band began playing independently in 1970, and they have recorded and toured ever since.

In the 1990s Hot Tuna developed a new focus on acoustic music, and they began performing primarily original and traditional blues songs in more intimate venues.

Kaukonen and Casady, along with members of Jefferson Airplane, were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996.

Tickets are $39 general admission, available online at or at HAV II in Camden, The Reading Corner in Rockland, Bella Books in Belfast, Mexicali Blues in Newcastle and Musician’s 1st Choice in Augusta.

Celebrate New Years in Style at the

7th Annual New Year’s Eve Sardine and Maple Leaf Drop-

New Year’s Eve is happening in Eastport, Maine! The city and surrounding area will celebrate the New Year with the annual Sardine and Maple Leaf Drop from the Tides Institute and Museum of Art building in the heart of the downtown’s public space, Bank Square.

“We have an 8-foot to scale model of the Atlantic Herring that will be lowered from the third story window,” said Hugh French, “This doesn’t happen everyday.”

The ‘Sardine’ will be lowered at midnight Eastern Time. A ‘Maple Leaf’ will be lowered at midnight Atlantic Time, (or 11:00 pm eastern), as Eastport is poised just west of the Atlantic time zone–so revelers celebrate twice. Restaurants, business and B&Bs are open for the occasion. See for more info.
