Hot Tuna will make its first-ever appearance at the Camden Opera House for one night only on Wednesday, February 22, at 7:30 p.m., joined by mandolin player Barry Mitterhoff.
Hot Tuna was created by guitarist Jorma Kaukonen and bassist Jack Casady, as a spinoff of Jefferson Airplane. The band began playing independently in 1970, and they have recorded and toured ever since.
In the 1990s Hot Tuna developed a new focus on acoustic music, and they began performing primarily original and traditional blues songs in more intimate venues.
Kaukonen and Casady, along with members of Jefferson Airplane, were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996.
Tickets are $39 general admission, available online at www.BrownPaperTickets.com or at HAV II in Camden, The Reading Corner in Rockland, Bella Books in Belfast, Mexicali Blues in Newcastle and Musician’s 1st Choice in Augusta.
